Music For 2011

OK folks, it's a new year, let's have some new music.  I present for your delectation and delight a by no means comprehensive list of recent releases that are worth listening to, and bands whose imminent releases are well worth waiting for....

Rocky Dawuni - If you love Bob Marley's tuneful reggae then you'll love Ghana's Rocky Dawuni.  Rocky released his most recent album, Hymns For The Rebel Soul, late in 2010 and it is an absolute belter, highly accessible pop reggae.

Jahdan Blakkamore - Jahdan has previously appeared with reggae outfit Noble Society, his solo style mixes dancehall reggae with rapping and dub.  His solo album Babylon Nightmare, is on sale now.

Million $ Reload - The UK rockers had been dropped from their label, but have now been picked up by Classic Rock's own Powerage label to re-release their debut LP Anthems Of A Degeneration. It is proper rock with a hint of Guns 'n Rose and a touch of Thin Lizzy, good stuff.

Black Water Rising - American classic hard rock, they currently have their self titled debut release on sale, packed full of chunky riffs and catchy hooks.

Royal Thunder - Another act with a self titled debut on offer (this was originally a 2009 release but was put out through emusic late last year), Royal Thunder tend towards the heavier end of prog and singer Mlny Parsonz sounds like a more soulful, and younger, Geddy Lee.

Vodoo 6 - UK hard rockers brought out their 3rd full album, Fluke ?, last year, if you like Ozzy or Black Label Society then this is right up your street.

The Junior League Band - Washington Dc based country rock band with great vocals from Lissy Rosemont.

Brother Dege - Seasick Steve on a slide guitar, Brother Dege strums and twangs his way through the excellent Folk Songs Of The American Longhair album.
