Down To The Wire

(Luciano Becchio)

Leeds United seem determined to wring the last drop of nervous sweat from their fans this season, with Millwall two goals down at struggling Tranmere yesterday Leeds could have secured the second automatic promotion place. Instead they conceded a goal late in the match and left the door open for any of 5 teams to grab the last promotion spot on the last day of the League 1 season.

Next Saturday, LUFC are at home, in front of a rumoured sell out crowd, to 9th place Bristol Rovers, if Leeds win they are promoted, if they draw or lose then Millwall, Swindon, Huddersfield and Charlton are close enough to grab 2nd place.

Considering the form Leeds have shown in the last couple of months, there won't be many fans confident of winning the final promotion slot through the play offs.

Another Yorkshire side facing a tough match match today is Sheffield Wednesday who are at home to Crystal Palace and must win in order to relegate Palace and save themselves from the drop.

I would love for the Leeds to be able to play Sheff Wed next season, but would rather it be in the Championship rather than League 1.
