The 4th Plinth
Antony Gormley's 4th Plinth project is taking place right now, it began on 6th July and runs until the 14th of October, every hour, a member of the public ascends the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square, and then they are free to do pretty much whatever they want.
I've just spent half an hour watching R J Gracy from Northern Ireland who read out passages from the Bible in a clear and steady voice, there seemed to be quite a crowd watching him, some of whom were barracking him, some were supporting, a few requests for specific passages could be heard.
You can watch the action, or lack of it, live on this 4th Plinth webstream. I doubt that it will all be as interesting as R J Gracey's performance though.
When Gormley's living sculpture art piece has finished, it will be replaced by 'Nelson's Ship In A Bottle' by Yinka Shonibare.
Update : 7.30am, there is a woman on the plinth, she is anonymous, and appears to be holding a large dead chicken, she is not speaking.
